Ham and Cheese Salad

ham and cheese salad

Are you looking for something different, but healthy for lunch? It's so common to get in a rut of eating the same things all the time. A change, every once in a while, is needed.

I love this salad because of all of the different flavors. Plus, it's so filling! I love when salads are filling. It's the best!

So keep reading below, because I will tell you everything that went into this salad. I hope you decide to make it for yourself!

- Chopped up Romaine lettuce

- Small handful of cherry tomatoes

- 1 hard boiled egg

- ham pieces

- 5 cheese cubes

- 1/2 avocado

- balsamic vinegrette

Before you start all of your chopping and slicing, start your egg. Get a small pot for boiling your egg on the stove. That will take the longest, so it should be started first.

While your egg is boiling, chop up your lettuce into bite size pieces. Please be sure to wash it all, because what you get at the store is so dirty! I use a salad spinner, but if you don't have one of those you can use a collander.

Now, once your lettuce is all set and on your plate, wash up some cherry tomatoes and toss them ontop of your lettuce.

Slice some pieces of ham, or cut it into small pieces. Add those ontop as well.

When I made this salad, I used a pepperjack cheese. It is so delicious and adds a hint of spicy without being too much. You can use whatever your favorite kind of cheese is. So chop that up into small pieces and toss them on your salad too!

Now all we have left is the avocado and egg. Your egg should still be cooking at this point, or maybe you turned the heat off and are just letting it sit in the hot water. Honestly, there are so many ways to make a hard boiled egg. I feel like everyone does it different.

Since we only need a half of an avocado for this meal, you can store the other half in a container in the fridge. So you'll want to cut the avocado in half without cutting through the pit. Twist and pull apart. Scoop out the pit and then you can either scoop out the avocado and then slice it, or use a slicing scoop.

Once your egg is finished cooking, peel it, and cut into 4 pieces.

Everything should now be on your plate, looking all pretty. Lightly drizzle some balsamic vinegrette ontop and enjoy this wonderful meal!
