Secrets Behind Coconut Oil

secrets behind coconut oil

Coconut oil is not very known unless you live where coconut trees commonly grow.  That is why I’m here, to educate you on the benefits!  Who knew one very simple thing could be so wonderful for your body inside and out.

Coconut oil can help maintain cholesterol, relieve stress, help better your digestion, promote weight loss, help with kidney problems, improve your hair quality, and increase the way your skin looks.

Internal Benefits

Coconut oil contains about 50% of lauric acid.  This helps prevent high cholesterol and high blood pressure among having many other benefits.  Lauric acid is a saturated fatty acid which is healthy to consume.  When lauric acid is in the body, it destroys fungus, bacteria, and viruses.  Sounds great, right?  Because of these wonderful benefits, many people who regularly consume coconut oil are sick less often.  That alone can make you want to go out and buy some.

Because coconut oil is so easy to digest, it relieves stress from the pancreas which burns more energy and helps you lose weight.  Normally you will find coconut oil used for cooking near the coastal regions and tropical areas.  These people normally are not overweight.  Coconut oil helps increase the metabolism. Coconut oil can be a substitute for many other things such as butter, water, and vegetable oil.

When making your morning smoothies, add a spoon of coconut oil before blending.  Coconut oil is wonderful when making sweet potato fries or popcorn. You should not switch to using only coconut oil.  It has many benefits, but there are benefits of other oils and milks as well.  This should just be added to your diet.  Remember, it is healthier to have variety in your diet.  Keep your body wondering.

External Benefits

Skin care – Coconut oil can be used as a moisturizer when massaged into the skin.  It provides a great solution for dryness of the skin, especially in those colder winter months.  As well, coconut oil can help delay wrinkles and sagging of the skin because of its great moisture and nutrients.  If you have any skin problems such as eczema, infections, dermatitis or any others, when applying coconut oil it can help treat the problem.

Coconut oil can often be found in soaps and lotions for the skin to keep your skin moisturized.  Again, these are easier to find near the coastal regions.  After being in the sun and sand all day, your skin tends to dry out.  Coconut oil lotion or soap will help this in just one use.  I have actually seen amazing results when applying coconut oil to a sun burn.  The coconut oil provides great relief and speeds up the healing process.

Hair care – If you want shinier hair, this stuff is amazing!  It helps reduce protein loss from damaged hair.  You know all that heat and stress you put on your hair every day from straightening, curling, and drying can make your hair look dull and unhealthy.   Coconut oil can be applied to the hair daily, weekly, or monthly; however often you’d like.  It acts as a conditioner to restore the nutrients.  Massaging coconut oil into the scalp can also help reduce dandruff along with reducing your chances of lice.

To use coconut oil on your hair, simply massage it into your head and hair when your hair is dry.  Coconut oil is in a solid form until warmed, but it will melt to a liquid from the heat of your hands and head.  Just scoop some out in your hand and start massaging it in.  It helps to do this with your hair flipped upside down.  Once all your hair is covered, clip it up and let it sit for about a half hour.  Then shampoo and condition like regular and you’ll notice your hair is softer and shinier after dried.  You may need to wash twice in order to get all the oil out of your hair.
